Eviction Sealing Clinic - Oct 6 - Monroe County Justice Building
Thank you for your interest in our Eviction Sealing Clinic. The Free Walk-In Clinic will be on October 6, 2023 at the Monroe County Justice Building, 301 N. College Ave., Bloomington, IN 47404, from 1 pm to 4 pm.
Please read the following:
At the clinic, you will meet with an attorney who will fill out the paperwork necessary for your eviction to be sealed and will serve your previous landlord by mail on your behalf. After completing the paperwork, you will file the paperwork with the court with the assistance of an attorney. The decision to seal each eviction is ultimately up to the judge of the court in which the eviction was filed.
An Eviction cannot be expunged if the case is still active, there is a pending hearing, or there is a money judgment that has not been paid off. You can look up your case at:
Enter your case number or name to locate your case record. Then scroll to the bottom of the page and check where it shows the Balance Due. If there is a Balance Due, it is likely that the eviction cannot be expunged. If you believe there is an error in the calculation, please contact the clerk's office to get more information or correct the error. If you believe there is a further issue, please contact our office by clicking on this link: indianalegalservices.org/applyonline.
During this walk-in clinic, litigants will be assisted on a first come, first serve basis. If you would like to phone ahead of time to let us know that you will be attending the clinic, please call us at 812-339-7668 so that we may do a preliminary conflict check to save you some time. Judges will also be available to sign and issue Orders and will provide litigants with a copy of the Order(s) before the litigant leaves, if possible.
Unless the case shows that it has been dismissed, the Judge ruled for the tenant at the hearing, OR there was an agreement that has been fulfilled, it is possible that it won't be expunged during this walk-in Clinic. While a Motion to Seal will be filed during the clinic, the Court may schedule a separate hearing on a different day to resolve your eviction sealing, please appear on that hearing date.
