Information on Gateway to Work Notices
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Recently, the Indiana FSSA sent notices to all HIP members informing them of the new Gateway to Work Program. Sample copy here. If you received this notice and have concerns about your health coverage, you may contact our office. We are a non-profit legal program. We may be able to help, at no charge. - What is Gateway to Work?
Gateway to Work is a required program for HIP members. Unless you are exempted, you must participate in work, school, volunteering, etc. to keep your HIP insurance.
- How Do I Know if I Need to Report Hours?
If you received a notice that says “Reporting” you are required to report your hours each month. Starting July 1, 2019, this amount will be 20 hours a month. You will be able to report through an FSSA benefits portal or by calling your health plan.
- What if I think I should be exempt?
If you have received the notice that does not say exempt, you should contact your health plan immediately. The exemptions are:
- Here are a few things you can do try to protect yourself:
- Read all of the mail you receive from either Indiana or your health insurance provider
-Respond immediately to any requests for documentation or information.
-Document as much as you can in writing.
-Update the state immediately if you change addresses or phone numbers.
