Are you in law school and looking for a summer opportunity to get hands-on experience before you graduate? This is the opportunity for you!

The Legal Corps AmeriCorps JD program provides law students with the opportunity to earn a $1,230 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award for dedicating 300 hours of service to a qualifying legal project with a nonprofit program or other qualifying organization. Law students are immersed in a network of more than 80,000 AmeriCorps Members nationwide and receive invaluable experience in various legal areas.

Indiana Legal Services (ILS) is a law office with a heart!  Since 1974, regional level legal services programs in Indiana have received funding from the Legal Services Corporation.  As of January 1, 2001, several of these regional programs merged to become Indiana Legal Services, Inc.  ILS assists in civil areas such as housing, public benefits, consumer, health, and family law. The organization advocates on behalf of its clients in state and federal courts, with landlords and nursing homes, and before administrative bodies such as the Social Security Administration, the Division of Family and Children, the unemployment office, housing authorities, and township trustees.

Indiana Legal Services, Inc. is partnering with Equal Justice Works to offer positions in three fields: Employment Opportunity, Elder Abuse, and Veterans Affairs. This is a terrific opportunity to serve the greater good, utilize your degree with hands-on experience, and contribute to the important work we do to ensure equal access to justice. Follow the links below for descriptions of the work law student’s will perform on the project.
